Tennessee basketball is stocking up on talent as it looks to break through to the program’s first-ever Final Four. Following a third-straight Elite Eight loss, Rick Barnes and company have landed five players through the transfer portal, each a priority target for the Vols as they fought off other contenders.
On top of the transfer portal push, Tennessee also dominated on the recruiting trail. With three high school prospects already signed, UT also added four-star wing Chris Washington Jr. to its list of incoming freshmen.
As a result, the nine players rank as the No. 2 best incoming group to a school across the country on 247. The only team with a higher-ranked class is Texas, which just barely beats out Tennessee’s class at this point. However, the Vols are looking to continue to add talent through the portal.
Tennessee’s portal class currently ranks as the No. 4 group in the cycle. The top spot goes to Louisville, then Texas and then Indiana before getting to UT. Its four high school signees rank as the No. 14 group on 247, as well.
