Henry Ford had the web gem of the game on Friday afternoon during the Vols’ dominant 10-0 win over the 13th-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide at Lindsey Nelson Stadium.
During the top of the seventh inning with Tennessee leading 6-0, Alabama outfielder Eric Hines hit a chopper to third base that had some big air between the bounces. With no time to catch the ball in his mitt and make the throw over to first base, Ford decided to leave the glove out of things entirely. He charged in, caught the ball off the hop with his throwing hand, and roped it over to first base.
Tennessee first baseman Levi Clark caught the ball at first base to give the Vols their first out of the inning.
Who needs a glove? 😏

Tennessee would go on to put up four more runs to run-rule the Crimson Tide by a score of 10-0 in just eight innings. With inclement weather slated for Saturday afternoon in Knoxville, the Vols and Crimson Tide will play the third rubber match of their series in a doubleheader on Friday night.
Ford finished the game with one hit and two runs in his four plate appearances in game one. He helped Tennessee get on the board early with a one-run RBI double in the bottom of the third inning.
Tennessee starting pitcher Tegan Kuhns put on a clinic on the mound during the early game, tossing a complete game shutout with nine strikeouts in eight innings pitched. Kuhns’ dominant performance allows Tennessee to have a rested bullpen for the game three rubber match on Friday night.
The second game of the doubleheader will take place at 6:30 p.m. ET.
