Former Tennessee defensive lineman Bryson Eason, a veteran in Knoxville and a fan-favorite with the Vols, will get his opportunity at the next level. According to a post from Tennessee Football, Eason signed an undrafted free agent contract with the San Francisco 49ers on Saturday night.

Eason played at Tennessee for six seasons. During his whole career, Eason racked up 105 tackles, five pass deflections, and 4.5 sacks. He put together a strong final season in Knoxville last year with a career-high 31 tackles and three pass deflections. Eason’s two most productive games last season came against Georgia and Illinois, where he racked up six total tackles in both games.

The former Vol was spotlighted as one of the top underrated players in the draft this week by ESPN’s Adam Rittenberg:

“Eason came to Tennessee as an inside linebacker and moved to the edge before eventually finding his home at defensive tackle,” Rittenberg wrote. “He stood out for a nationally elite Vols’ defense in 2024, finishing third on the team in tackles for loss with seven. Eason finished his career with more than 1,500 snaps. The 6-foot-2, 323-pound Eason tied for fifth in the broad jump (9 feet, 4 inches) among defensive tackles at the combine and clocked a 5.09 in the 40-yard dash.”

At the time of this publication, Eason is the 11th Tennessee player who is chasing down their opportunities at the next level. Tennessee had five players selected during the NFL Draft (Colton Hood, Chris Brazzell, Jermod McCoy, Joshua Josephs, and Tyre West), while three VFLs have already signed UDFA contracts. Joey Aguilar is heading to Jacksonville, Jalen McMurray is heading to Tennessee, Miles Kitselman is going to Detroit, Jaxson Moi is heading to the L.A. Rams, and Dominic Bailey is going to Houston.
