The final outgoing Tennessee basketball transfer has committed to his next school. On Thursday night, Clarence Massamba announced he has committed to UC Davis.
This past season, UC Davis finished 19-14 (11-9 Big West). It made its way to the second round of the conference tournament, but fell to 3-seed Cal St. Fullerton by 12 points as the 6-seed.
Massamba just completed his freshman year at UT, in which he played in 13 games. He totaled just four points, four assists and three assists in 45 total minutes played. While Massamba never earned a significant role, he did play sparingly late in the season, including in the Vols’ NCAA Tournament win against Miami (Ohio).
However, injuries also reared their ugly head in Massamba’s freshman season. He dealt with a hip flexor for a solid portion of SEC play. Tennessee head coach Rick Barnes frequently spoke positively about Massamba’s work ethic and mentality as a result.

The 6-foot-5 shooting guard came to Tennessee from AS Monaco, a professional team in France. A 19-year-old, Massamba played mostly on AC Monaco’s B team (U21) where he averaged 9.8 points on 45% shooting from the field and 34% shooting from three-point range. He added 2.8 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.3 steals per game.
The France native played two prep seasons at The Rock School in Gainesville, Florida, before joining AS Monaco for the 2024-25 season.
Massamba is one of five Tennessee players to enter the portal. Other departures are forward JP Estrella to Michigan, guard Bishop Boswell to Maryland, forward Cade Phillips to Texas A&M, forward Jaylen Carey to Missouri and guard Amari Evans to Texas. UT only returns rising sophomore Troy Henderson and DeWayne Brown II from last year’s team.
