It’s been far from a standout transfer portal slate for Kentucky basketball. However, Tennessee’s SEC rival still has time to land some top available prospects. One of the top targets still on the board is one that Vol fans should remember, as well.
According to a report from KSR’s Jacob Polacheck, the Wildcats met with Iowa State star forward Milan Momcilovic over Zoom. That name should sound familiar because he was one of the best players on the Cyclones team that Tennessee eliminated in the Sweet 16 of this past NCAA Tournament.
In the Vols’ 76-62 upset win to advance to their third-straight Elite Eight, UT had little trouble holding Momcilovic at bay. He finished the game with just six points on 2-for-9 shooting from the field and 2-for-7 on threes. The 6-foot-8 forward didn’t grab a single rebound and passed for three assists in 33 minutes on the floor.

Momcilovic is also testing the NBA Draft waters.

While he was suffocated by Tennessee’s defense in the elimination game, Momcilovic had an overall successful season at Iowa State. The junior produced 16.9 points per game on 50.6% shooting from the field and 48.7% on threes. He also contributed 3.1 rebounds and 1.0 assists per game.
It isn’t confirmed that Momcilovic will return to college, though. He’s also testing the NBA draft waters and has been invited to the NBA Draft Combine. Most mock drafts have him as an early second-round pick if he does stay in.
Even if Kentucky does land Momcilovic, the group of incoming transfers will still trail what Tennessee has already done in the portal, as well. The Vols most recently landed top-ranked portal prospect Juke Harris from Wake Forest, with the class ranking as the No. 2 group in the country on 247.
