Tennessee football is one of the final five schools in the mix to land a top wide receiver in the 2027 class. Four-star receiver Osani Gayles named the Vols, Alabama, Washington, Notre Dame and Stanford as his finalists, Rivals reports.

Gayles will also take an official visit to each school. He’ll be in Knoxville on June 12 for the critical visit to check out UT.

According to 247, Gayles is the No. 35 overall recruit in the cycle. He is the No. 7 wide receiver and No. 5 player from the state of Florida, as well. Currently, Gayles plays for IMG Academy out of Bradenton, Florida.

At the moment, Gayles is listed at 5-foot-11 and 185 pounds. The speedster would likely project as a slot receiver at the college level.

“Gifted inside receiver with the intelligence, confidence and polish to elevate any passing attack,” 247 director of scouting Andrew Ivins wrote. “Manipulates defenders with impressive route tempo as he mixes speeds and snaps out of breaks at crisp angles. Can bypass coverage with advanced releases and easy acceleration. Tracks the ball extremely well and will find late burst when needed. Combative more times than not in 50-50 situations with his play strength. Slippery after the catch as he stacks cuts to avoid would-be tacklers.”

Currently, Tennessee holds seven commitments in the 2027 class. This features a trio of highly-touted four-stars. Headlining is in-state wide receiver, Kesean Bowman. He is a top-50 prospect and one of the top pass catchers in the class. In-state offensive tackle Princeton Uwaifo and defensive lineman Kadin Fife are also highly ranked.

Three-stars in the class are quarterback Derrick Baker, athlete Jaden Butler, in-state legacy linebacker JP Peace and defensive back Carter Jamison. Currently, this group is ranked inside the top-25 on both 247 and Rivals for the young 2027 cycle. More commitments are expected to roll in, as well.
