On Thursday, we got some additional information about Tennessee Athletics’ plan to reveal its new adidas uniforms for next year. On The Mike Keith Show, the Voice of the Vols clarified the timeline for the university’s switch from Nike to adidas.
“Tennessee is switching to adidas, as every Vol fan knows,” Keith said. “The official switch date is July 2. When you will be able to buy adidas merchandise at retail is July 10. So, July 2 is the switch, July 10 is when you’ll be able to buy adidas merch.”
Starting on July 2, UT will start to reveal what the new uniforms look like. Sarah Detwiler, assistant director of VFL Films, said that throughout the week, they will start to roll out what the new jerseys look like. Each day could be a different color, theme, etc., as we get our first looks.

Keith also confirmed the return of Dark Mode uniforms for Tennessee football. The Vols won’t reveal the game designation for Dark Mode until closer to kickoff, but he noted there will be a set of black uniforms for UT.
“The different designations for home games were announced this week for Tennessee football,” Keith said. “Some people were confused because they didn’t see Dark Mode listed there. Dark Mode is never listed among the designations. adidas will make a Dark Mode jersey, Tennessee will have Dark Mode, but that will not be announced until a few days before the game, and that’s been standard policy. So if you were worried about that, don’t worry about it, Dark Mode will return under adidas and that will be announced several days before the game that is chosen as Dark Mode so you will know in plenty of time.”
In the Josh Heupel Era, Tennessee is 4-2 while wearing ‘Dark Mode’ jerseys. The two losses came to Georgia in 2021 with white helmets and this past year to Oklahoma.
