Tennessee softball is a win away from advancing to the super regionals. The Lady Vols will meet Virginia on Sunday afternoon in the Knoxville Regional Finals. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m. ET and will air on ESPN2.
If UT wins, it moves on to the Knoxville Super Regional against the winner between Georgia and Clemson. If it loses, Tennessee will meet the Hoos at approximately 4:30 p.m. ET for an all-deciding game seven of the regional.
This is a rematch of yesterday’s matchup between Tennessee and Virginia. The Lady Vols won 7-5 behind a five-run first inning and a pair of solo shots.
“Just a really great game,” Weekly said afterward. “The kind of game you expect in postseason here at regionals. In our team, we’ve talked this week about nothing’s going to be easy. Every game is going to be a dogfight. Everybody’s here because they’re good, everybody’s here because they don’t quit, no matter what. And I’m really proud of our team for just the fight and answering back.
“Honestly, every time Virginia did something, we answered right back, and that’s a really, really good team across the field. They didn’t show any after effects of playing really late last night and being in a back-and-forth emotional extra inning game with Indiana, and I know whoever comes out of this today is going to be a formidable opponent tomorrow.”
