We won’t have to wait long to find out where in-state prospect Brandon “Slim” Leavell will be playing his collegiate football this week. According to a post from On3’s Shayne Pickering on Sunday, the three-star safety will be announcing his commitment at 7:30 p.m. ET on Monday night.

Leavell will be choosing between Tennessee, Florida State, Florida, Clemson, and NC State.

The 6-foot-2 defensive back currently plays for Goodpasture High School in Madison, TN. His high school is located just a bit northeast of Nashville and is just under three hours away from Neyland Stadium in Knoxville.

Rivals’ Industry Rankings have Leavell tagged as the No. 731 player in the class, the No. 76 cornerback in the cycle, and the No. 30 player from the Volunteer State. It is worth noting that while Rivals has him as a cornerback, 247Sports has him listed as an athlete and Pickering tagged him as a safety in his social media post.

According to GoVols247’s Ryan Callahan, Leavell has made the trip to Rocky Top twice in the last two months. He was in Knoxville for one of Tennessee Football’s spring practices on March 31, and then returned a few weeks later for the Vols’ Orange & White Spring Game on April 11.

Leavell is one of the targets for new Tennessee secondary coach Anthony Poindexter, who visited the in-state prospect at Goodpasture High School on Tuesday. Leavell also tagged new Tennessee cornerbacks coach Derek Jones in the post. The photo and tags suggest that Tennessee is recruiting Leavell as a defensive back and will figure out the best spot to put him down the road, if he does wind up with the Volunteers.

Leavell will be announcing his commitment on Monday night during a ceremony at his high school in Madison, TN.

Tennessee currently has seven commitments in the 2027 cycle, and Leavell would make the third defensive back in the class if he commits to the Vols on Monday. Tennessee’s seven commits include four-star WR Kesean Bowman, four-star OT Princeton Uwaifo, four-star defensive lineman Kadin Fife, three-star safety Jaden Butler, three-star LB J.P. Peace, three-star quarterback Derrick Baker, and three-star cornerback Carter Jamison.
