Tennessee softball is set to begin its 10th-ever Women’s College World Series run on Thursday. At 2:30 p.m. ET on ESPN, the Lady Vols will meet Texas in the opening round.
Ahead of the event in Oklahoma City, Tennessee head coach Karen Weekly and a trio of pitchers, Karlyn Pickens, Sage Mardjetko and Erin Nuwer, met with the media.
“Just great to be here,” Weekly said. “No better place to be this time of year than Oklahoma City. Really happy to do it with this group of young women. I don’t know that I’ve ever had a team where everybody is such a great teammate and really embraces the role they’re called upon to play. Just really proud of them and excited to get going and playing ball tomorrow.”
Texas also sent representatives to the podium ahead of its opening game against Tennessee. This included head coach Mike White, catcher Reese Atwood, pitcher Teagan Kavan and catcher/infielder Katie Stewart.
