Tennessee softball is suffering a third loss to the transfer portal this offseason, and it’s the biggest loss yet. After a pair of reserve players departed earlier in the cycle, starting infielder Ella Dodge announced she’ll also be moving on and entering the portal.
Dodge just completed her redshirt-sophomore season and will have two years of eligibility remaining at her next stop. She can play multiple positions on the infield, but rounded out this last year as the team’s starting third baseman and hit toward the top of the order.
On the year, Dodge hit for a .275 average with 50 runs and 46 RBI. She also mashed 11 home runs, 13 doubles and one triple. She appeared in 64 games, starting in each.
I am thankful for my time at Tennessee, but after much thought and prayer, I have decided to enter the transfer portal with 2 years of eligibility.

Dodge joins freshman pitcher Kailey Plumlee and outfielder Saviya Morgan as outgoing transfers. Plumlee has committed to Alabama after not playing this past year, and Morgan is still available.
Dodge is also the first member of the starting batting order to depart. All typical nine starters had additional eligibility to use, with just Karlyn Pickens and a pair of reserve position players out of eligibility.
Potential returns on the infield include Emma Clarke, Makenzie Butt, Bella Faw, Meredith Barnhart and Amayah Doyle, along with incoming freshmen Halle Bailey and Avary Stockwell.
