Saturday has treated Tennessee football well on the recruiting trail. After landing Kenneth Simon II, a four-star legacy linebacker, earlier in the day, the Vols picked up another commitment later in the day.

Four-star offensive tackle Q’Mari Hudson pledged his commitment to Tennessee, becoming the 15th player to join the class. The group ranked at No. 41 in the country heading into the day.

Hudson picked UT over Virginia Tech. He was also considering Virginia, but cut it down to just the Vols and Hokies after official visits to see both schools. He saw Knoxville last weekend and decided that was enough to make his decision, though.

Hudson ranks as the No. 393 player in the class, according to 247 Composite rankings. He is the No. 40 offensive tackle and No. 9 player out of the state of Virginia. He is from Chesapeake, Virginia, where he plays for Western Branch.

Turning on the film, you can see why Hudson was given four-star status. In the run game, he showed the ability to move defenders down the field and clear out massive gaps for running backs. In pass protection, he showed strong technique for his age and denied pass rushes.

Hudson is also a two-way player in high school. Making an impact on defense shows his athleticism and also gives him insight into the mentality of defensive linemen while he’s on the offensive line.
