Tennessee football is hosting its class of 2027 targets on official visits while also turning its attention to the upcoming 2028 cycle. In this effort, the Vols got one of their most notable alumni to give his thoughts on why UT is special.
Alvin Kamara, a Tennessee running back from 2015-16, makes frequent returns to Knoxville to attend practices and games. He was also in town the other weekend to help with the pitch for five-star running back David Gabriel Georges.
Here’s what Kamara said.
Don’t take our word for it, @A_kamara6 knows why Rocky Top is special.#RockyTop28, you’re up next!#GBO 🍊 pic.twitter.com/np4DmC5c6A

On what makes Knoxville special
“Man, it’s just the energy. Tennessee, it feels just like home. Good energy, good people, good food and Neyland Stadium is here, super special.”
On playing in Neyland Stadium
“The electricity in that stadium, it’s amazing. Neyland Stadium is definitely one of the top stadiums I’ve played in period, pro or college.”
On running through the T
“Running through the T on game day is like no other experience in college football, in football really, man. I remember when I first got here and my first opportunity to go out there and you kind just stand in the front looking out at the stadium into the fans. Just getting ready for the game and you kind of realize where you’re at. That experience, I can still feel it. Just locking arms with your guys and getting ready to go out and win a game.”
On what being a VFL means to him
“Being a VFL means everything, literally. It sounds cliché, but it’s about giving your all. It’s about being a beacon. Just being all you can be. Being a VFL and being around and seeing other VFLs and connecting with them, I think you really truly understand the impact that you have as someone who wore that Power T. It means a lot. I don’t take it lightly and I don’t think the guys that are in my shoes, I don’t think they take it lightly. Being a VFL is everything.”
