One of Tennessee football’s recruiting targets is set to come off the board in the coming days. Linebacker Robert ‘Tre’ Geathers III announced that he will be making his decision on Thursday, June 18, at 12:45 p.m. ET.
Geathers will be deciding between a group of SEC teams. His finalists are the Vols, Georgia, South Carolina and Florida. Currently, 247 has one crystal ball logged for him, and it’s from Swamp247 writer Tyler Harden for the Gators.
This comes after Geathers completed a string of official visits. He had scheduled an official visit to each of his finalists, along with Vanderbilt. However, the Commodores did not make the cut to stay in the race. He was also still scheduled to see Georgia this weekend, but is committing before the visit.

Geathers is a linebacker out of Charlotte, North Carolina. Playing for Providence Day School, Geathers was a sophomore in 2024 on the same team that Vols starting offensive tackle David Sanders Jr. starred for. The team went 9-3 and reached the finals of North Carolina NCISAA Division 1 playoffs.
Geathers ranks as a three-star recruit on 247 Composite. He sits as the No. 565 player in the class of 2027 and the No. 18 player from the state of North Carolina, which Josh Heupel has recruited extremely well in his Tennessee tenure. Geathers’ primary recruiter is Vols linebackers coach William Inge.
He comes from a line of proven football players, as well. Geathers’ father was a defensive end at Georgia from 2001-03 before being selected in the fourth round of the NFL draft and playing 10 years in the league. His grandfather was a defensive lineman at South Carolina State before being picked in the third round of the 1981 NFL Draft. His great uncle was a defensive lineman at Wichita State and was picked in the second round of the 1984 NFL Draft.
