Two current and one former Tennessee golfer teed it up at the 126th US Open this week at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club in Long Island. How did they fare?

All three — Caleb Surratt, Jackson Herrington and Chase Kyes — shot 5-over-par on Thursday and were on the wrong side of the cut line entering their Friday afternoon tee times.

However, Surratt shot 1-under par on Friday to be one of 72 players to make the cut at Shinnecock. The former Vol finished the weekend tied for 63rd by shooting 13-over par over the four days.

A 22-year old member of LIV Golf, Surratt shot 5-over-par 75 on Saturday before finishing his week in New York with a 4-over-par 74 on Sunday. Surratt had a chaotic final round, making four birdies, four bogeys and a pair of double bogeys.

After not making a double bogeys the first two days of the tournament, Surratt made four on the weekend. That offset the fact that he made seven birdies over his final two rounds after making five over the first two days of the event.

Rising junior Jackson Herrington missed the cut, shooting 9-over-par in two rounds with a 5-over 75 on Thursday and a 4-over 74 on Friday. Herrington qualified for the 126th US Open by finishing second at last summer’s US Amateur at the Olympic Club in San Francisco.

Chase Kyes missed the cut after sooting 12-over-par in two rounds. He posted a 5-over 75 on Thursday and a 7-over 77 on Friday. The rising sophomore shot 11-under-par in two rounds of qualifying at Hawks Ridge Golf Club in Georgia earlier this month.

Wyndham Clark led wire-to-wire at Shinnecock Hills by shooting 4-under-par, surviving a Sunday push from Sam Burns and holding off world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler. It’s Clark’s second US Open victory in the last four years. Clark previously won the 123rd US Open at the Los Angeles Country Club.
