Former NBA Champion and Tennessee Volunteer Jaden Springer will play on the Dallas Mavericks’ NBA Summer League team later this month, the team announced on Friday. Springer and the Mavericks will play their first Summer League game on July 9 against the Golden State Warriors in Las Vegas.
Springer was originally selected out of the University of Tennessee by the Philadelphia 76ers in the first round of the 2021 NBA Draft. He split time in his first few seasons with the Sixers and their G-League team, and helped the Delaware Blue Jackets win the G-League Championship in 2023. He was named the G-League Finals MVP for his efforts in the championship win.
The former Volunteer was then traded to the Boston Celtics in Feb. 2024, and was on the team when they won the NBA Championship over the Dallas Mavericks later that spring.

Since then, though, things have been a bit murky. Springer was traded to the Rockets in Feb. 2025 but was waived later that day. He then signed a 10-day contract with the Utah Jazz, which turned into a three-year deal just a few months later. However, after the 2025 season, Springer was waived by Utah.
Springer signed with the Pelicans last July and was on the roster for the team’s season-opener in October. He was then waived by the team the very next day so New Orleans could open up a spot to sign free agent big man DeAndre Jordan.
Springer spent one season at Tennessee during the COVID-shortened 2020 season. He started 15 of 25 games, averaging 12.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 2.9 assists per game for Rick Barnes’ team. The North Carolina native was then drafted by the 76ers with the 28th overall pick in the draft.
In 110 career NBA games played, Springer has averaged 2.9 points, 1.4 rebounds, and 0.8 assists.
The Dallas Mavericks announced their roster for the 2026 Las Vegas Summer League team today, headlined by 9th overall pick Morez Johnson Jr.
