Former Tennessee Guard Shines in NBA Summer League Action Off The Bench on Saturday

Former Tennessee guard Tyreke Key was putting in work during NBA Summer League action on Saturday in Las Vegas. During the Raptors’ 102- 89 win over the Rockets, Key put up 19 points in just 18 minutes off the bench, which was the second-highest point total in the game.

Key made four of his six shots on the day, including going 3/4 from behind the three-point line. He burst out of the gates with 13 points in the first half. Overall, Key also finished the game with two rebounds, one steal, one block, and one turnover.

This was the Raptors’ second game in the Summer League. In the first game against the Celtics, he went for six points in 16 minutes off the bench, going 2/6 from the field and 1/3 from three. He also had two rebounds, one assist, and three turnovers in the game.

Key played his first four collegiate seasons at Indiana State before eventually transferring to Tennessee for one season. He played for the Vols during the 2022-2023 campaign on Tennessee’s Sweet 16 team. Key played a career-high 33 games with the Volunteers and started in 15 contests. He averaged 8.2 points, 1.3 assists, and 2.5 rebounds per game. Key helped Tennessee defeat both Louisiana and Duke during the 2023 NCAA Tournament before the Vols fell to Florida Atlantic in the Sweet 16. He tallied a season-high 23 points in the Vols’ buzzer-beater loss to Missouri at home in February 2023.

After going undrafted following his time at Tennessee, Key signed to play with the Leuven Bears of Belgium. He then signed an Exhibit-10 contract with the Toronto Raptors last September.

He spent most of the season with Toronto’s G-League team, Raptors 905, but played the final four games of the season with the Raptors in 2026.
