The 2026 MLB Draft resumes on Sunday morning with 16 rapid fire rounds. With the first four rounds in the rearview, the fifth through 20th rounds are still remaining and will take place over the course of Sunday.

Three Tennessee baseball signees were selected on Saturday with Jared Grindlinger and Trevor Condon going in the first round and Kaiden McCarthy going in the second round. Local third baseman Michael Teasley withdrew his name from the draft on Saturday night.

But there’s still plenty of potential action for Volunteer signees on Sunday. Seven more Tennessee signees were top 250 draft prospects according to MLB Pipeline. The first few rounds on Sunday will likely decide which Vol signees make it to campus and which go pro.

This story will be updated all afternoon when Tennessee signees are selected.

RHP Ty Putnam

  • Pick No. 136 (Round 5)
  • Colorado Rockies

Putnam committed to Tennessee in October 2024 but blew up as a draft prospect in the last year. He particularly impressed at last month’s MLB Combine in Arizona where his fastball was up to 99 mph.

The Columbia, Missouri native ranks as the No. 92 player and No. 23 right-handed pitcher in the 2026 recruiting cycle according to Perfect Game but went well above that ranking with the 136th pick in the draft.

Putnam is a part of a large group of right-handed pitchers who signed with Tennessee but are draft risks. The Vols returned right-handed pitcher Landon Mack while landing Louisville right-handed pitcher transfer Parker Detmers and Clemson right-handed pitcher transfer Hayden Simmerson.
