Tennessee football is in a big-time recruiting clash for one of the top prospects in the class of 2027. Next week, on July 22, five-star back David Gabriel Georges will announce his commitment between the Vols, Ohio State and Ole Miss.
Ahead of his commitment, Gabriel Georges said he was still undecided just over a week out during the last time he spoke with the media. As he weighs his options, with the thought that it’ll be a choice between Tennessee and the Buckeyes, he’s getting the last-minute pitches.
From UT, current star running back DeSean Bishop weighed in through a report from On3.
“We have a long history of elite running backs,” Bishop said. “You go into that running back room we have; I don’t think anybody can touch it in the SEC. But shout out to him.”

More From RTI: How Landing David Gabriel Georges Would Affect Tennessee Football’s 2027 Class Ranking
Bishop returns after a breakout year in his first season as Tennessee’s feature back. He totaled 1,076 yards and 16 touchdowns on 182 carries through 13 games. This marked the third straight season the Vols have produced a 1,000-yard back after Dylan Sampson and Jaylen Wright did it before getting drafted.
According to 247 Composite, Gabriel Georges is considered the No. 10 player in the class, No. 2 running back and the top player from the state of Tennessee. Though initially from Quebec, he currently lives in Chattanooga, where he plays for Baylor School.
Even after his commitment, this race likely won’t be over, either. As most big-time recruiting battles go, it’s safe to expect the loser of the Gabriel Georges sweepstakes to stay in contact all the way until signing day in attempts to flip him.
