The MLB trade deadline is two weeks away but a former Tennessee baseball pitcher is already on the move. The Colorado Rockies traded right-handed pitcher Seth Halvorsen to the Los Angeles Dodgers on Monday, New York Post’s Joel Sherman first reported.
Colorado acquired a pair of minor leaguers — RHP Nick Frasso and outfielder Landyn Vidourek — in the deal. Frasso was a former top prospect in the Dodgers’ system before suffering injuries. Los Angeles drafted Vidourek in the third round of the 2025 MLB Draft.
Halvorsen boasts a 4.74 ERA and 1.95 WHIP in just 19 innings pitched this season. His inconsistencies have led to him spending time in AAA this season where he’s posted a 2.04 ERA in 16 appearances.
Injuries have also been a part of Halvorsen’s season. Colorado placed the flame-throwing right hander on the 15-day IL on July 4. He made a rehab appearance in AAA Albuquerque on Sunday and the Dodgers are assigning him to their AAA squad.
Halvorsen made his MLB debut during the 2024 season and he quickly found his footing on the big league squad, posting a 1.46 ERA in his 12 appearances. The right-handed pitcher had his longest stretch in the show during the 2025 season when he posted a 4.99 ERA in 39.2 innings pitched.

Colorado drafted Halvorsen in the seventh round of the 2023 MLB Draft after spending two years, but playing just one season, at Tennessee.
Halvorsen transferred from Missouri to Tennessee following his freshman season but an injury kept Halvorsen from pitching during the 2022 season. He then became one of the top arms in Tennessee’s bullpen during the 2023 season.
As part of a loaded Volunteer pitching staff, Halvorsen posted a 3-3 record and 3.81 ERA in 52 innings pitched in 2023. He was a key part of Tennessee’s run to the College World Series. His 3.1 no-hit innings in the Vols’ wild 13 inning victory over Clemson was crucial in Tennessee advancing to the super regionals.
Halvorsen is one of 12 former Tennessee players to make it to the MLB since COVID-19, joining Garrett Stallings, Chad Dallas, Garrett Crochet, Chase Dollander, Andre Lipcius, Jordan Beck, Drew Gilbert, Blade Tidwell, Christian Moore, Trey Lipscomb and Ben Joyce.
The Dodgers have won each of the last two World Series and currently boast a 63-37 record that is the best in the MLB.
