One of the top recruits in the 2027 class, David Gabriel Georges, has announced his commitment. On Wednesday evening, the five-star running back picked Tennessee football over Ohio State and Ole Miss.
According to 247 Composite, Gabriel Georges is considered the No. 10 player in the class, No. 2 running back and the top player from the state of Tennessee. Though initially from Quebec, he currently lives in Chattanooga, where he plays for Baylor School.
This now teams up Gabriel Georges with a trio of former Baylor School standouts, as well. Currently on the roster are redshirt-freshman wide receiver Joakim Dodson, freshman offensive lineman Gabe Osenda and freshman defensive back Jamyan Theodore.
Gabriel Georges took official visits to his three finalists, but also had Georgia in the mix down the stretch. However, he cancelled his trip to see the Bulldogs to narrow it down to the trio. For the majority of his recruitment, it was believed to be a two-school race, though, between Ohio State and Tennessee. Many experts even had predictions logged for the Buckeyes to land his commitment, but five insiders flipped to UT just ahead of his announcement.

Gabriel Georges is coming off a junior season at Baylor School in which MaxPreps Player of the Year and for the second time, Tennessee Mr. Football. He produced 1,749 rushing yards and 27 touchdowns last season, as well.
“Hard-driving running back with the quickness and power to emerge as the centerpiece of an offense for a College Football Playoff contender,” 247 director of scouting Andrew Ivins wrote. “Already owns ready-to-play bulk as he tips the scales at just over 205 pounds and uses that weight to his advantage as he sheds tackles and bounces off contact. Quick out the chute with his acceleration as he picks a lane and motors forwards. Reads blocks well, but can change course in the snap of a finger and get out of trouble. Durable enough to handle extensive inside work, but can generate plenty of explosive plays with his burst as he’s quick to step on the pedal when he finds a crease…”
This now marks 18 commitments in the class of 2027 for the Vols. The group entered the day ranked as the No. 38 class in the nation and No. 14 in the SEC, but should see a sizable jump with the addition of the five-star prospect. UT is also looking to land three-star in-state running back Asa Barnes next week.
