In just a couple of weeks, Tennessee football will take the field for fall camp ahead of the 2026 season. During the slate of training camp practices, the Vols will hold a quarterback competition between true freshman Faizon Brandon and second-year George MacIntyre.
Ahead of camp, Brandon gave back to the local Knoxville community. On Saturday, Brandon went over to Anderson County High School to host a youth football camp. According to WBIR, more than 100 children from second to eighth grade attended and received instruction from the former five-star recruit.
The money raised from the event isn’t going into Brandon’s pockets, either. He is donating proceeds to the Tennessee Children’s Home, which he also said he’ll be matching by the dollar.

With the quarterback battle the top headline around Tennessee heading into 2026, it was obviously on the docket of questions at SEC Media Days. In anticipation, Vols head coach Josh Heupel got in front of it and pointed to his history with young and/or new quarterbacks.
“I know much is going to be made about our quarterback situation as we come in, starting our fifth different quarterback in five years,” Heupel said. “We’ve done that historically. At some point I’m going to have the opportunity to come back here with a returning starter at quarterback. Seven out of the last nine years we’ve had a different starting quarterback, and seven out of the last nine years top 10 in the country in scoring. We’re going to have a guy that’s going to be ready to compete at an elite championship level.”
Brandon joins Tennessee as a five-star recruit. He was ranked as the top player in the class for a bit of the 2026 cycle, but finished as the No. 3 overall player and No. 3 quarterback in the class on 247. He is from Greensboro, North Carolina, where he played for Grimsley High School.
