Former Tennessee quarterback Joe Milton III is entrenched in a battle for the Dallas Cowboys’ backup position behind starter Dak Prescott this offseason.
The Cowboys acquired Milton in a spring trade to have him battle with former Florida/West Virginia quarterback Will Grier for that second-string spot.
As fans in Tennessee are plenty familiar with, Milton’s training camp work has made him a big talking point amongst Cowboys media members this summer. He’s still learning the system and the offense, but his deep ball has routinely impressed those who are watching and reporting on practices.
During a camp scrimmage against the Rams on Tuesday, Milton uncorked a massive 75-yard touchdown pass to former South Carolina wide receiver Jalen Brooks.
Absolute BOMB from Cowboys QB Joe Milton, hitting Jalen Brooks 75 yards in the air during today’s joint practice with the Rams.

Milton’s joint session on Tuesday didn’t end on the field, though. According to the Star-Telegram’s Nick Harris, Milton was removed from practice due to a right thumb injury. We’ll monitor the reports as they come out from California.
He’s got a big preseason slate ahead of him, after all.
Milton is entering his second year in the NFL after playing his rookie season with the New England Patriots. He only saw action in one game during the regular season finale against Buffalo, but made the most of it in order to be noticed by other teams around the league as trade interest. He completed 22-of-29 attempts for 241 yards and one touchdown.
