Tennessee football is still putting the final touches on its 2026 recruiting class as they continue to recruit a number of highly touted targets. But with the season approaching, Tennessee is beginning to really hone in on the 2027 recruiting cycle with in season visits.
According to a report from Rivals’ Steve Wiltfong, Tennessee will host one of the top player in the 2027 recruiting cycle on an unofficial visit later this season. Five-star cornerback Joshua Dobson plans on visiting Tennessee Sept. 20 when they host UAB at Neyland Stadium.
Dobson ranks as a five-star recruit and the No. 5 overall player in the 2027 recruiting cycle according to the 247sports composite rankings. A 6-foot-1, 175-pound defensive back, Dobson ranks as the No. 2 cornerback and the top player in the state of South Carolina in the 2027 recruiting cycle.

The Fort Mill, South Carolina native has also scheduled three other unofficial visits for the fall. Dobson will visit both instate schools, Clemson and South Carolina, as well as Notre Dame. According to Wiltfong’s report, Clemson is the early front runner in his recruitment.
Tennessee’s cornerback room will be one of the best on the team this season with Jermod McCoy, Rickey Gibson and Colton Hood making up one of the best trios in the country. The Vols have recruited solidly at cornerback under defensive back’s coach Willie Martinez but has done most of their damage in the transfer portal landing McCoy from Oregon State and Hood from Colorado.
The Vols currently have two cornerbacks committed in their 2026 recruiting class— three-stars Jamyan Theodore and Javonte Smith. Tennessee signed a large four-player cornerback class in the 2025 cycle with three-star Ty Redmond turning heads during his first fall camp.
Tennessee football’s 2027 recruiting class currently contains just one commitment from three-star local linebacker JP Peace.
