Tennessee football is nearing its 2025 season opener against Syracuse in Atlanta. Ahead of the start of the season, legendary quarterback Peyton Manning had a surprise for the current Vol football players.
Josh Heupel was leading Tennessee through a Thursday team meeting as part of its mock game week when a surprise video message from Peyton Manning began on the big screen.
“To the 2025 Tennessee Volunteers, the work you’ve put in all year has prepared you for the season ahead,” Manning began. “Now is the time that that hard work pays off. Challenge yourself and demand nothing but the best from each other. Hope these help you tune out the noise and focus on the team. Go Vols!”
Manning’s gift to the team was custom Tennessee Beats Headphones. The headphones had a checkered patterned with Power Ts on the outside of the ear.

Manning has been a massive support of not only Tennessee football but the entire university since his playing career ended in 1997. The Hall of Fame quarterback often goes to multiple Tennessee games every season and in the last two years attended Vol baseball’s national championship game against Texas A&M and Vol basketball’s Sweet 16 game against Kentucky.
Tennessee opens up its 2025 football season on Aug. 30 against Syracuse. The Vols are two-touchdown favorites against the Orange.
