Tennessee football begins its 2025 season next Saturday when the Vols face off against Syracuse in Atlanta. The Vols are 14-point favorites against Syracuse with the over/under set at 50.5 according to DraftKings Sportsbook.
There’s been very slight movement in the line in recent weeks with Tennessee moving from 13.5-point to 14-point favorites. However, Tennessee is -105 at -14 while Syracuse is -115 at +14.
Tennessee is coming off a 10-3 (6-2 SEC) season that saw them make the expanded 12-team College Football Playoff before losing in the first round to eventual national champion Ohio State. The Vols have had an abundance of turnover this offseason, especially on the offensive side of the ball where they’re replacing their starting quarterback, top rusher, three of their top four receivers and four of five starting offensive linemen.
While expectations are lower for the Vols this season, Tennessee’s defense once again projects to be one of the SEC’s best this season which gives the Vols a chance to push for a playoff spot once again.

Gone is starting quarterback Kyle McCord, the nation’s top passer from a season ago, as well as top rusher LeQuint Allen, its top receiver, top tight end and three of its five starting offensive linemen.
