After putting together the No. 2 recruiting class in the country in her first season, Lady Vols head coach Kim Caldwell is looking to land another elite group of recruits. This weekend will be pivotal in this effort with two top recruits on campus for official visits. Both Jacy Abii and Trinity Jones are headed to Knoxville.
Abii, a 6-foot-3 wing, listed the Lady Vols, UCLA, Texas, LSU and Notre Dame as her finalists. This puts Tennessee in a good position to land the five-star, although it’ll be up against four other staples in the sport. She is from Fisco, Texas, where she plays for Liberty. She is considered the No. 10 overall recruit in the class, according to 247 composite rankings, the No. 4 power forward and the No. 1 player out of the Lone Star State.
“Abii’s game is continuing to grow and evolve as she matures into her frame,” 247 director of women’s basketball scouting Brandon Clay wrote . “She provided the USA Basketball 17-and-Under roster with frontcourt depth and another talented option capable of controlling the paint. Abii’s unique blend of size and mobility should translate well to the international game. She was able to make the impact needed to affect the game defensively and deliver optimal production. Unfortunately, Abii suffered a significant lower leg injury as the summer concluded, which will likely sideline her for the duration of the 2024-25 school season.”

Jones is a 6-foot-1 shooting guard. She does not have a final list of schools she is deciding between at the moment. She is from Bolingbrook, Illinois, where she plays for Bolingbrook High School. Jones is ranked as the No. 7 player in the country, according to 247 composite rankings, which makes her a five-star recruit. This rates her the No. 2 overall shooting guard and top player from the state.
“Jones suffered a lower leg injury that sidelined her starting in May and is expected to extend at least through the end of the 2024 calendar year,” 247 director of women’s basketball scouting Brandon Clay wrote. “When healthy, Jones is one of the premier guards in America. She has the skill and athleticism to create off the dribble and can also push the tempo on offense, attacking the paint to score. Her length allows coaches to potentially use her at any of the three guard or wing positions, depending on the matchup.”
The visit aligns with the opening home game for Tennessee football. The Vols will host ETSU at 3:30 p.m. ET on Saturday. The game airs on SECN+/ESPN+.
The Lady Vols are yet to land a commitment in the 2026 class. In 2025, Tennessee brought in a trio of five-stars in Mia Pauldo, Deniya Prawl and Jaida Civil, all of which were McDonald’s All-Americans. It also landed top 100 four-stars in Mya Pauldo and Lauren Hurst.
Caldwell and the Lady Vols will host a number of official visitors this fall as they look to secure another top class. This includes Oliviyah Edwards, Bri Crittendon, Bella Flemings and Gabby Minus.
