Kim Caldwell and Lady Vols basketball got some great news on Saturday morning. Before Tennessee football hosted Georgia inside Neyland Stadium, five-star power forward Oliviyah Edwards announced her decision to commit to UT. This came during her official visit to Knoxville.
Edwards is a consensus five-star recruit and the No. 2 player in the class on ESPNW. This is her second time in Knoxville after she previously took an unofficial visit in January. Edwards is a 6-foot-3 power forward with elite athleticism. She has displayed the ability to dunk with ease before her senior year of high school had even begun. That’s not just in warmups either; she’s already dunked in game formats.
It’s easy to see why she’d fit in in Caldwell’s system. With her athleticism and length, she’ll be a menace in the press and could get some fastbreak dunk looks in transition, as well.
“Edwards is a fantastic frontcourt option when sprinting the lane in the open floor,” 247 women’s basketball director of scouting Brandon Clay wrote. “In that regard, she is the most intriguing prospect in the class right now. She possesses a physical toolbox that no one else has. Edwards is also showing signs of making the 15-18 foot jumper when her feet are set. Her calling card is her willingness to rebound the basketball and be impactful in the paint.”
