Five-star class of 2027 wing Gabe Nesmith has scheduled a trio of fall unofficial visits including a trip to Knoxville. Nesmith will unofficially visit Tennessee on Oct. 26, League Ready’s Sam Kayser first reported and Nesmith confirmed to RTI Tuesday night.
Nesmith’s trip to Knoxville is one of three visits he has scheduled for the fall. He also plans on unofficially visiting Georgia and Louisville in the two weeks leading up to his scheduled unofficial visit to Tennessee.
It’s still extremely early in the 2027 recruiting cycle with Nesmith and others just now entering their junior high school seasons. But Nesmith is currently one of the top players in the class. Tennessee getting him on campus early for an unofficial visit helps set themselves up long term in his recruitment.
Nesmith ranks as a five-star recruit and the No. 15 player in the 2027 recruiting cycle according to the 247sports composite rankings. The 6-foot-5 prospect also ranks as the No. 7 small forward in his recruiting class.

A Montverde, Florida native, Nesmith plays his prep basketball with Overtime Elite in Atlanta. Overtime Elite is a top prep league that produces a number of blue-chip recruits every season. Tennessee has experience recruiting Overtime Elite, landing four-star shooting guard Amari Evans out of the league last year.
Nesmith is unofficially visiting Tennessee for the Vols’ exhibition game against Duke at Thompson-Boling Arena at Food City Center. Tennessee is setting up the weekend around the sold out exhibition game as a major recruiting one. Nesmith is the first scheduled visitor in the 2027 cycle but five-star point guard Deron Rippey Jr, five-star wing Bryson Howard, five-star power forward Christian Collins, four-star shooting guard Jasiah Jervis and four-star power forward Cody Peck all have official visits scheduled for that weekend.
Tennessee basketball has yet to land a commitment in the 2027 recruiting cycle but has visits scheduled with a small handful of prospects. Four-star shooting guard RJ Moore unofficially visited Tennessee two weeks ago while four-star combo guard LJ Smith has an unofficial visit in October.
