Tennessee football is set to host UAB in just a day inside Neyland Stadium. The Vols and Buccaneers will square off at 12:24 p.m. ET with the game airing on SEC Network.

Before kick-off, I dove into the numbers, with the help of UT’s game notes, to get a better look at what to expect in the game.

Here are three numbers to keep in mind as you’re watching the game.

52.7

No team in the SEC is scoring more points per game through three weeks than Tennessee. The Vols have produced 52.7 points per contest, the best in the conference and sixth-most in all of FBS. This isn’t against slouches either. UT has played two Power Four opponents, including Georgia this past Saturday. The 72 points, a modern era school record, hung on ETSU certainly helped, though.

The other offensive mark Tennessee leads in the SEC is passing offense. Primarily behind the arm of Joey Aguilar, the Vols are producing 358.7 yards through the air per game. This is the seventh-best in the country.

Individually, Chris Brazzell, after a terrific game against Georgia, is tied for the FBS lead and leads the SEC with five touchdown receptions. Defensively, Arion Carter leads the conference with 27 tackles, Colton Hood leads with five pass breakups and Joshua Josephs leads with three sacks and two force fumbles.

14

There are 14 teams in the American Conference. Of these 14 teams, UAB is dead last in multiple defensive categories. Perhaps most notably, the scoring defense rounds out the conference. The Blazers are giving up 36 points per game, which is also the 121st-worst mark in the entire FBS.

Unsurprisingly, this means they have poor stats stopping both the run and pass. In rushing yards allowed, UAB gives up 218.7 yards per game, which ranks 129th in the country. Passing efficiency defense is at 194.19, which is 133rd in the nation.

In total yardage allowed, the Blazers are allowing 472.7 yards per game, which is 129th in the country. With the Vols’ offense off to a strong start, it could get ugly in Neyland Stadium on Saturday.

200

Joey Aguilar is gearing up for the 28th start of his FBS career on Saturday. In the previous 27, Aguilar has reached 200 passing yards in every single outing.

In five straight of these games, Aguilar has thrown for multiple touchdowns. He’s also tossed for multiple scores in 21 of his 27 starts.

In his FBS career, Aguilar averages 290.9 yards of total offense per game. This makes him the active FBS leader in this category. It’s a number that has somewhat surprisingly only grown since he got to Tennessee, too.
