Tennessee will close out its early-season three-game home stretch with a non-conference matchup against the UAB Blazers on Saturday afternoon in Neyland Stadium. The Blazers have some familiar names in and around the program, including head coach Trent Dilfer, a former Super Bowl champion quarterback, and starting quarterback Jalen Kitna, a former Florida Gators signal caller and the son of former Dallas Cowboys quarterback/coach Jon Kitna.
On the Tennessee sideline, it’ll be the familiar names that Tennessee fans know plenty about. Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel will call his 56th game with the Volunteers, while quarterback Joey Aguilar will make his fourth start with UT this season. The Blazers have struggled on the defensive side of the ball this year, which means that Tennessee’s offense could light up plenty of fireworks atop Neyland Stadium on Saturday.
Tennessee is looking to get back on track after an SEC-opening loss to Georgia last weekend in Knoxville. The Vols and Bulldogs exchanged heavyweight blows throughout the contest, but Georgia was able to win the game by three points in overtime. Even with a big road test against Mississippi State in Starkville next weekend, look for Tennessee to want to bounce back in a big way this Saturday against the Blazers.
