Tennessee football fell short of earning his initial commitment, but the Vols still have a chance to land Dre Quinn. The edge rusher out of Buford, Georgia, committed to Clemson in June over the likes of UT, Notre Dame, Georgia, Georgia Tech and Texas.
However, on Thursday, Quinn backed off his pledge and decommitted from the Tigers. This came just under two weeks after he took an unofficial visit to Tennessee, as well. He was in town for the Vols’ massive recruiting weekend when they hosted Georgia on the field.
Quinn did not publicly announce any visits to other schools last weekend, either. This points to the trip to UT being the final visit he took before deciding Clemson wasn’t where he wanted to play.
Quinn is a four-star recruit who sits just inside the top 400 prospects list for the 2026 class on 247 composite. He is the No. 395 player in the country, No. 35 edge and No. 42 player out of Georgia.

For Buford, one of the stronger programs in the state, Quinn plays receiver and on defense. He’ll be looked at as an edge rusher at the next level, though. He stands at 6-foot-4, 228 pounds.
Tennessee currently holds the No. 4 class in the 2026 cycle, according to 247. The Vols are behind just USC, Texas A&M and Alabama. UT is on the heels of the Tide, though, and a commitment of Quinn’s status would likely push it ahead.
On the edge, Tennessee boasts commitments from the likes of Auburn flip and four-star Hezekiah Harris, in-state four-star Zach Groves, four-star Kedric Golston and three-star CJ Edwards.
The top of the Vols’ class features four players with five-star status on at least one site. This includes 247’s top-ranked recruit quarterback Faizon Brandon, top-ranked wide receiver Tristen Keys, offensive lineman Gabriel Osenda and two-way athlete Salesi Moa.
