Tennessee football is on the road Saturday as they prepare to face Mississippi State in a critical SEC matchup for its College Football Playoff hopes.

ESPN’s College Gameday crew is in State College as Penn State hosts Oregon in a critical early season Big 10 showdown as the Ducks look to make an early statement in their conference title defense and James Franklin’s Nittany Lions look for a marquee win.

In Starkville, Tennessee is looking to bounce back from its SEC opening loss against Georgia with a critical road victory. The Vols have had some road struggles in recent seasons and are looking to avoid that pitfall in their first road game of the season.

Mississippi State is unbeaten and off to its best start since 2014. The Bulldogs are looking to prove that it was no non conference fluke by earning a win in its first SEC game of the season.

The college gameday crew likes Tennessee in the matchup with Nick Saban, Pat McAfee, Kirk Herbstreit and guest picker Lavar Arrington picking the Vols and just Desmond Howard picking the Bulldogs.

As of Saturday morning, Tennessee is seven-point favorites against the Bulldogs according to the DKSportsbook. The over/under is set at 61.5. Kickoff between Tennessee and Mississippi State is at 4:15 p.m. ET Saturday afternoon. Dave Neal, Fozzy Whittaker and Morgan Uber are on the call for the SEC Network.
