After surging toward the top of the list of Heisman Trophy winner odds following the loss to Georgia, Tennessee football quarterback Joey Aguilar’s odds are starting to dip. Currently, on FanDuel, you can get his odds at +1700. This is tied for the eighth-best odds in the nation.
Aguilar is knotted up with Vanderbilt quarterback Diego Pavia at eighth. Ahead of the pair of SEC signal callers are Oregon’s Dante Moore in first, followed by Ohio State’s Jeremiah Smith, Alabama’s Ty Simpson, Miami’s Carson Beck, Ole Miss’ Trinidad Chambliss, Indiana’s Fernando Mendoza and Ohio State’s Julian Sayin in that order.
Aguilar now clocking in at +1700 is a drop from where he was just a week ago, though. Following the win over UAB, Aguilar had +1400 odds to win. This was the fifth-best mark in the nation at the time.

If Aguilar does win the award, he’d be the first Vol to ever take home the trophy. Peyton Manning was a finalist in his last year in Knoxville, but was snubbed in the decision, losing to Michigan defensive back Charles Woodson. Current wide receiver Chris Brazzell has also emerged as a dark-horse option this year, but has no odds listed.
Aguilar is coming off a strong game in the 41-34 overtime win over Mississippi State on the road. He completed 24-of-40 passes for 335 yards and a touchdown. He did throw two interceptions, both targeting Miles Kitselman, with the ball deflected high in the air. Aguilar ran in for a score, as well.
On the season, Aguilar is responsible for 1,459 passing yards, 13 touchdowns and five interceptions through five games. He’s run for a total of 58 yards for two touchdowns, as well.
Now, he’ll get the chance to catch his breath. Tennessee has an open date this weekend to prepare for Arkansas. The Razorbacks head to Neyland Stadium after firing their head coach, Sam Pittman, though. The Head Hog will be an interim in Bobby Petrino come next Saturday.
