As Tennessee football looks to finish out the 2026 class strong, it’s also strengthening relationships in the 2027 class to get out to a strong start there, as well. In the case of Joshua Dobson, a five-star cornerback who ranks inside the top-five in the class, he’s keeping the Vols in the mix.

On Tuesday, Dobson released his list of 12 schools he will be focusing on going forward. This included Tennessee alongside LSU, Texas Tech, Penn State, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Clemson, Notre Dame, South Carolina, Ohio State, Florida State and Alabama.

He picked up his offer from the Vols back in June of 2024. This was corresponding with an impressive camp showing at UT in front of the Tennessee coaching staff. He would make it to campus for a game day visit to see the Vols beat Alabama at home that following season, as well.

Dobson is ranked as the No. 4 player in the class, according to Rivals. He is the top-ranked cornerback in the class, as well. Out of Fort Mill, South Carolina, he is the top player from the state.

Along with excelling on the football field, Dobson is also a track and field star. According to 247, he was a state qualifier as a freshman in both the 200 and 400-meter dashes.

On the gridiron, he was an All-State and All-Region member in his sophomore season. This featured 48 tackles, 10 pass break-ups, 3 interceptions and a pair of kick-offs returned for touchdowns.

UT currently holds just one commitment in the 2027 class in the form of J.P. Peace, a legacy recruit and three-star linebacker. In the 2026 cycle, according to 247’s own rankings, Tennessee has the No. 4 class. This features the likes of top-ranked recruit quarterback Faizon Brandon and five-stars athlete Salesi Moa, offensive lineman Gabriel Osenda and top-ranked wide receiver Tristen Keys.
