Missouri safety Caleb Flagg has decided to enter the transfer portal in the middle of the season, he announced in a social media post on Wednesday. This comes one week after Missouri head coach Eli Drinkwitz announced that Flagg had decided to redshirt the rest of the 2025 season and left the program.
“Thankful for my time at Mizzou and the staff who’ve supported me along the way,” Flagg said in a social media post. “Most of all, I’m grateful for my defensive brothers – the bond we built is real and will always stay with me. After much thought, I’ve decided to redshirt this season and enter the transfer portal. Excited for the next chapter ahead.”

Flagg spent his first two seasons at FCS Houston Christian in 2022 and 2023. He recorded more than 100 tackles over the course of the two years, earning him an opportunity at the Power 4 level. The 5-foot-10 safety then took his talents to Colombia, MO, to join the Tigers’ program.
During his first season on Drinkwitz’s roster, he played 11 games for Missouri, only missing the Tigers’ games against Boston College and Texas A&M. Flagg tallied 20 tackles and one forced fumble during his first season.
Flagg played four games with the Tigers in 2024 before hitting the transfer portal. He registered four tackles and two pass breakups, with his stats coming against Central Arkansas, Louisiana, and South Carolina.
The Houston, TX, native will have one remaining year of eligibility.
Tennessee doesn’t have Missouri on this schedule this season, but it will in a few years. After not playing each other since 2023, the Volunteers and the Tigers will match up in 2027 and 2029 with the SEC’s new scheduling format. Tennessee will play Missouri on the road in 2027 before hosting the Tigers in 2029.
Missouri head coach Eli Drinkwitz said over the summer that Tennessee’s “terrible” visiting locker room is the worst in the SEC. Fortunately for him, the SEC isn’t sending him there for another four years.
