Tennessee football had its first open date of the season this past Saturday. Despite not playing, Vols quarterback Joey Aguilar’s betting odds to win the Heisman Trophy have taken a decent slip.

According to FanDuel, Aguilar has +2200 odds to win the most prestigious individual award in the sport. This is the 10th-best mark in the country. Miami quarterback Carson Beck and Oregon quarterback Dante Moore are currently tied at +600 for the best odds. Behind them are Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson, Ohio State wide receiver Jeremiah Smith and quarterback Julian Sayin, Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza, Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss, Texas A&M quarterback Marcel Reed and Notre Dame quarterback CJ Carr.

Heading into this past week, Aguilar was tied with Vanderbilt quarterback Diego Pavia for the eighth-best odds at +1700. Pavia has taken a fall after the Commodores’ loss at Alabama, though.

This recent move continued a negative trend for Aguilar, as well. After the win over UAB, he had the fifth-best odds at +1400.

If Aguilar does win the award, he’d be the first Vol to ever take home the trophy. Peyton Manning was a finalist in his last year in Knoxville, but was snubbed in the decision, losing to Michigan defensive back Charles Woodson. Current wide receiver Chris Brazzell has also emerged as a dark-horse option this year, but has no odds listed.

On the season, Aguilar is responsible for 1,459 passing yards, 13 touchdowns and five interceptions through five games. He’s run for a total of 58 yards for two touchdowns, as well.

Now, he got the chance to catch his breath. Tennessee had an open date this past weekend to prepare for Arkansas. The Razorbacks head to Neyland Stadium after firing their head coach, Sam Pittman.. The Head Hog will be an interim in Bobby Petrino come next Saturday.

Kickoff is scheduled for 4:15 p.m. ET and will air on SEC Network.
