It wasn’t stress-free, but Tennessee football held on to beat Arkansas 34-31 in Neyland Stadium on Saturday night. After the game, Razorbacks interim head coach Bobby Petrino and players running back Mike Washington Jr. and linebacker Stephen Dix Jr. met with the media during a press conference.
This marked Petrino’s first game back as Arkansas’ head coach after a successful first stint ended in controversy. He returned as an offensive coordinator under Sam Pittman and was elevated to interim coach after Pittman’s firing. He was asked in the press conference about returning to the sideline, the decision to go for it on fourth down, UT’s adjustments and more.
Washington had a strong game out of the backfield while totaling 131 yards and a touchdown on 19 carries. Heading into the week, he noted in a press conference that he thought Tennessee’s defense had ‘a lot of holes.’ He backed it up with his showing.
Dix led the team in tackles with 11, including 1 solo tackle and a tackle for loss.
