In the fourth quarter of Tennessee football’s 34-31 win over Arkansas, Joey Aguilar broke off a big run to put the Vols in a great position to wind down the clock and win. However, at the end of the play, he went down with what appeared to be an injury.
While Aguilar revealed the wind was just knocked out of him, and he was able to return a few plays later, there was a moment inside Neyland Stadium where you could hear a pin drop. Fans in attendance worried for the worst: their breakout quarterback going down for an extended period of time going forward.
When Aguilar was helped to his feet and gingerly walked to the sideline, fans broke out in a ‘Joey! Joey! Joey!’ chant. Rocky Top Insider got the video of the moment and Aguilar’s mom, Lydia Aguilar, gave her reaction on her X account.

Lydia Aguilar made the trip from California to Knoxville to catch her son play on Saturday. She has been to every game except one, UT’s win over UAB, due to the birth of her grandson and Joey Aguilar’s nephew.
Joey Aguilar had a great game against the Razorbacks with his mom in attendance, as well. He completed 16-of-25 passes for 221 yards and a touchdown. He also didn’t throw an interception. He added 59 rushing yards on five totes, as well.
