The brotherhood between former Tennessee quarterbacks Hendon Hooker and Joe Milton III remains strong. The now-NFL quarterbacks ended up meeting on the field after the Panthers’ win over the Cowboys on Sunday afternoon in Carolina. Hooker appears to have left the field with Milton’s No. 10 Cowboys jersey.

The former teammates have been serving as backup quarterbacks for their respective organizations this season. Milton was acquired by the Cowboys during the offseason via a trade, while Hooker was signed by the Panthers after being cut by the Detroit Lions in August.

Hooker, a backup to former Alabama quarterback Bryce Young, hasn’t seen any action with the Panthers yet this season. Milton, meanwhile, got a quick run late in the game in the Cowboys’ 17-point loss to the Bears in late September. Milton completed 3-of-5 passes for 41 yards but also threw an interception.

Hooker and Milton were both brought in through the transfer portal before Josh Heupel’s first season at Tennessee in 2021. Milton began the season as the Vols’ starter, but sustained an injury early in the season. Hooker took over the starting duties and carried them through the 2021 and 2022 seasons. When Hooker got hurt in the penultimate game of the 2022 season, Milton took back over for the season finale against Vanderbilt and the Orange Bowl against Clemson. Milton then led the Vols as the starter in 2023 before being drafted to the NFL.

The Panthers defeated the Cowboys by a score of 30-27 on Sunday afternoon in Carolina’s Bank of America Stadium.
