Tennessee and Alabama both enter the game with multi-game win streaks and a 5-1 overall record at the halfway point of the season. The Volunteers’ lone loss came in an overtime contest at home against Georgia, which was followed by three straight wins over UAB, at Mississippi State, and against Arkansas leading into Saturday. Alabama, meanwhile, has been nothing short of impressive since an embarrassing opening loss at Florida State to begin the year. The Crimson Tide has rattled off five straight wins since then, including a trio of Top 16 SEC teams with No. 5 Georgia, No. 16 Vanderbilt, and No. 14 Missouri.

One big story heading into Saturday’s contest is the battle of the quarterbacks with Tennessee’s Joey Aguilar and Alabama’s Ty Simpson. Both players have revitalized each team’s passing attack from the previous season and currently stand No. 1 and No. 2 in terms of passing yards among SEC quarterbacks. Aguilar leads Simpson by just a few yards, but Simpson inches out Aguilar in terms of passing touchdowns.
