If there were any Tennessee Volunteers Football fans watching the ‘Chad Powers’ show on Hulu Thursday, they may have had a Leonardo DiCaprio-pointing-at-the-TV-GIF type of moment during this week’s episode.
‘Chad Powers’, a Hulu show produced by Peyton and Eli Manning and based on the Omaha Productions’ Chad Powers skit, released its fourth episode of the debut season this past Thursday night. The show follows disgraced quarterback Chad Powers, played by Top Gun: Maverick’s Glen Powell, as he goes undercover with the South Georgia Catfish as a way to relive his glory days on the gridiron.
The fourth episode featured a number of references to the Tennessee Volunteers, which isn’t a surprise considering Peyton Manning’s role in the production. The episode follows Powers embarking on a journey through Knoxville (not actually, but close enough) as he prepares his disguise before Saturday’s game against the Tennessee Volunteers in Neyland Stadium.
As Powell’s character goes through the city, he meets a Tennessee fan gearing up for Saturday’s game between the Vols and the Catfish. It’s not entirely accurate, given that the actor uses the ill-pronounced “Voles” name, but it may get a laugh out of Tennessee fans.
What do you even do in this situation? Better yet, what do you think Chad did? 👀

Aside from the Smokey reference, there’s also a fan’s house that’s decorated in Tennessee gear, a nice Cookout reference at the end of the episode, and a shot of Powell’s character leading his team into Neyland Stadium for the second game of the season.
A LEGIT dual-threat. The REAL deal. 😤

According to the show, Powers throws for 343 yards and four touchdowns and runs for 75 yards in Neyland Stadium, likely upsetting the Vols in the process. I mean, can you imagine? Try to picture the type of reaction that Tennessee fans would have in real life if a quarterback from the South Georgia Catfish went for 400+ total yards and four scores and found an upset victory in just the second game of the season. It would be nuclear in the streets of Knoxville!
I guess that’s why they call it showbiz, though.
