Former Tennessee football running back and NFL superstar Alvin Kamara isn’t playing for anyone but the New Orleans Saints. The back has had his name floated around in potential trade packages by the media with the Saints’ struggles, but Kamara isn’t having it. This week, he insinuated that a trade would mean he’s hanging up the cleats.
“If I was a GM, I guess I would go to the player and say, ‘Hey, we’re trading you, just so you know,'” Kamara said, according to Luke Johnson. “So if Mickey comes down and says that, I’m going to go drink a piña colada somewhere.”
Kamara has spent his entire NFL career with the franchise to this point. He was drafted by New Orleans in the third round with the No. 67 overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. He went on to win Rookie of the Year and has been named to a pair of All-Pro teams five Pro Bowls in his career.
As of week six of the 2025-26 season, Kamara has rushed for 7,093 yards and 61 touchdowns in his career. The versatile threat out of the backfield has also tallied 4,884 receiving yards and 25 touchdowns. He holds the record for touchdowns in an NFL game with six, as well.

Kamara began his college career in a stacked running back recruiting class at Alabama. However, an injury shut him down and forced him to redshirt. After the season, he transferred to Hutchinson CC to continue his career. Following a breakout year, he transferred to Tennessee.
With the Vols, Kamara played two seasons, both under Butch Jones. There, he ran for a combined 1,294 yards and 16 touchdowns while posting 683 receiving yards and an additional seven scores.
He is consistently back in Knoxville and around the football program, despite multiple coaching changes since his tenure. Most recently, he made the trip to Atlanta to see the Vols beat Syracuse and was with quarterback Joey Aguilar after the win.
