The SEC is flexing the kickoff time and broadcast details for Tennessee football’s matchup against Oklahoma. Kickoff is at either 3:30 p.m. ET, 7 p.m. ET or 7:30 p.m. ET. Either ABC or ESPN is broadcasting the conference matchup, the SEC announced Monday.
The other game part of the flex is South Carolina at Ole Miss. Ole Miss travels to Oklahoma this weekend while South Carolina hosts Oklahoma. The SEC will announce the final time slot and broadcast details this Saturday night.
Even if Tennessee-Oklahoma is in the ABC primetime slot, the top broadcast crew with Chris Fowler, Kirk Herbstreit and Holly Rowe may not call the game. The Florida-Georgia rivalry game is at 3:30 p.m. ET on ABC. The World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party is always an afternoon kickoff and will likely be on ABC going forward.
With Florida having four losses already and firing head coach Billy Napier Sunday, it would make more sense for the Fowler, Herbstreit and Rowe broadcast crew to call the Tennessee-Oklahoma game.
After not playing a single night game in its first six games of the season, Tennessee is now playing three straight night games with road matchups at Alabama and Kentucky before the home matchup against Oklahoma. The Vols have played four afternoon games and two games in the noon time slot.

The early November SEC matchup is highly significant for both team’s College Football Playoff hopes. With two losses, Tennessee must win out of its going to make it back to the playoffs for a second straight season. It very well could be a must win game for Oklahoma too.
The Sooners currently boast a 6-1 (2-1 SEC) record ahead of this week’s home matchup against Ole Miss at Gaylord Family Oklahoma Memorial Stadium. Oklahoma can afford one more loss this season while still making the playoffs, but they have ranked opponents Alabama, Missouri and LSU remaining following the Tennessee game.
While Oklahoma has a top 10 challenge against Ole Miss this week, Tennessee heads on the road for the second straight week against Kentucky.
Tennessee and Oklahoma have faced off just five times in program history. The Sooners hold a 2-3 all time lead in the series with Tennessee winning the lone SEC matchup 25-15 a season ago in Norman.
