No. 14 Tennessee lost to No. 18 Oklahoma by a score of 33-27 on Saturday night in Knoxville. The Sooners went into the halftime break up 16-10, and held the Volunteers back in the final two frames to secure the upset victory in Neyland Stadium.

It’s Tennessee’s third loss on the season, meaning that the Vols’ playoff hopes are all but dashed. Oklahoma, meanwhile, lives to fight another day for its spot in the winter tournament.

“Obviously extremely disappointed with the outcome,” Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel said after the game. “Everybody in the program is extremely disappointed. Fans were awesome tonight, as always, I want to thank them. First half, thought defensively we played extremely well. Offensively, move the football, don’t get points in the red zone, turn the ball over, give them 16 points in the first half and just can’t win that way.”

Heupel spoke to the media for about six minutes after the game on Saturday. Tennessee also had four players speak after the game, including quarterback Joey Aguilar, wide receiver Braylon Staley, linebacker Edwin Spillman, and safety Edrees Farooq.
