Tennessee basketball hosted four-star big man Cody Peck on an official visit over the weekend as the fall recruiting period begins to wind down. The official visit was the Charlotte native’s first chance to see Tennessee during his recruitment.
“It was amazing,” Peck told RTI Sunday. “Just getting to learn more about the coaches personally. Seeing campus more in depth is incredible. The environment at the football game was crazy. I’ve never seen anything like it before so it was definitely an incredible visit, for sure.”
Outside of the football game, Peck watched Tennessee practice and learned more about Rick Barnes, the rest of the Vols’ coaching staff and the program as a whole. Like many recruits, Peck noted Barnes fire and passion during Tennessee’s practice.
“We watched practice, it was very intense,” Peck said. “Coach Barnes really gets after it. Then they showed me a bunch of clips of things they would use me for. Versatility wise and running the floor. Showing me that they’ve had players like me before. Just learning more about the coaching staff like career wise. I watched the Rick Barnes video which was great and educational. I loved it.”
Peck has a diverse skillset for a 6-foot-10, 205-pound big man. He’s able to stretch the floor with his shooting and handles the basketball well for his position.

“Just the ability to run the floor and at my size being able to shoot and dribble, push the break if I need to,” Peck said of his film session with Rick Barnes. “That’s something that really peaks their interest about me. They told me how they plan on developing me strength wise and the flow of their offense and defense like I could definitely see myself involved in that.”
The blue-chip recruit’s diverse skillset was shown by the number of different players that Barnes showed Peck film of. That group includes Nate Ament and Felix Okpara on the Vols’ current roster and former Barnes’ players Kevin Durant and Grant Williams.
With the early signing date approaching later this month, Peck is not in any hurry to make a college commitment. The Charlotte native has also taken an official visit to Dayton. While he does not have any more visits scheduled at this time, Peck says he could take more visits this winter before making a decision.
Tennessee basketball’s 2026 recruiting class currently contains three commits. Four-star wing Ralph Scott, four-star wing Manny Green and three-star point guard Marquis Clark all committed to Tennessee in October. However, the Vols do not have a commit from a true front court player like Peck.
