When Tennessee football heads to Gainesville in a few weeks to play Florida, the Gators will likely be without one of their top playmakers. Freshman wide receiver Dallas Wilson suffered a foot injury in UF’s loss to Georgia on Saturday and is now expected to miss the remainder of the season, according to Matt Zenitz.
Wilson had recorded only 174 yards and three touchdowns on 12 receptions this season, but was showing flashes of his potential. In the win over Texas, he went off for 111 yards and two touchdowns on six catches. That game against the Longhorns was his collegiate debut, as he missed the start of the season due to injury. He’s only played in four matches this season.
Wilson was a five-star recruit out of high school, according to both On3 Industry rankings and 247 composite rankings. On3 Industry had him as the No. 2 receiver and No. 19 overall recruit in the cycle, as well.
He wasn’t always destined for Florida, though. Instead, he was signed with Oregon before requesting a release from his financial aid agreement and flipping to the Gators and Billy Napier.

Neither Wilson nor Napier will be making an impact when the Vols get to town, though. Wilson is expected to miss the rest of the year with his injury, and Napier was fired after another shaky start to the season. Now, it’s Billy Gonzales serving as interim head coach.
In Gonzales’ first game as interim, he kept things tight with Georgia. However, the Bulldogs pulled out a 24-20 win in Jacksonville to drop Florida to 3-5 (2-3 SEC) on the season.
Next, the Gators will head to Kentucky, which is coming off its first SEC win of the season over Auburn. The Tigers fired head coach Hugh Freeze the following day. Then, Florida will play at Ole Miss, which is firmly in the College Football Playoff picture, before the game with Tennessee.
The Vols and Gators meet on Nov. 22 in the ‘flex window’. A TV designation will be announced at a later date. Next for Tennessee is an open date this weekend after a deflating loss to Oklahoma. Then, the Vols will host New Mexico State before getting back into conference play against Florida.
