Tennessee transfer defensive lineman Jordan Ross committed to LSU football on Friday, On3’s Pete Nakos first reported. Ross committed to Lane Kiffin and the Tigers just days after entering the portal and visiting LSU. He originally scheduled a visit to Alabama too but that never happened.
Ross is coming off a sophomore season where he totaled 23 tackles, 1.5 sacks, two pass breakups and a forced fumble. The Birmingham native played 249 snaps in 11 games during the 2025 season, earning a 78.2 PFF grade.
The edge rusher is a former five-star recruit in the 2024 recruiting cycle when he committed to Tennessee over Auburn and Florida. 247sports ranked Ross as the No. 9 player in the cycle.
The Birmingham native lands with a LSU program beginning a new era under first year head coach Lane Kiffin. LSU has been extremely active in the portal after losing 28 players to the portal following Brian Kelly’s termination.

Ross will return to Neyland Stadium on Nov. 21 in what could prove to be a critical game for both team’s College Football Playoff hopes. It’s the Vols’ final home hame of the 2026 season.
Tennessee is in desperate need of edge rushers this offseason. The Vols lost starting LEO Josh Josephs to the NFL while top backups Caleb Herring and Ross each entered the transfer portal. The only returning LEO on Tennessee’s roster is Christian Gass— who redshirted and played just 12 snaps as a true freshman last season.
The Vols have targeted a handful of edge rushers in the transfer portal including the highly touted Chaz Coleman from Penn State. Coleman visited Tennessee earlier this week along with LSU and Ohio State. Alabama edge rusher Qua Russaw is scheduled to visit Tennessee this weekend.
