Tennessee basketball star freshman forward Nate Ament has reeled in another prestigious honor for his play. On Monday, the league named Ament the SEC Freshman of the Week for the fifth time this season. It is his sixth SEC acclaim of the year, as well, with an SEC Player of the Week also added to his trophy case.

Ament’s five SEC Freshman of the Week nods are the most by any player in program history. Tobias Harris (2010-11) and Ramar Smith (2006-07) were the previous leaders at three.

This also now marks the 27th SEC Freshman of the Week award won by a Vol since it was reinstated in the 2005-06 season. It is the 15th time a player coached by Rick Barnes at UT has won it, as well.
