Tennessee football quarterback Joey Aguilar is planning on attending the NFL Scouting Combine for an abbreviated window, according to a report from On3’s Chris Low. He will be there for 48 hours, keeping his potential eligibility as he awaits a decision from his hearing last Friday.
The combine will run from February 23 through March 2. Currently, Judge Chris Heagerty has yet to make a decision on whether he will grant Aguilar an injunction that would let him return to the Vols next season. If a decision does grant him eligibility before the combine, he’d likely pull his name out. If a decision went against him, he’d likely stay for the entire event.
Aguilar’s lawsuit against the NCAA protests rules that count seasons played at the junior college level against a player’s NCAA eligibility. Aguilar’s side also claims he would be losing out on significant compensation if he were not granted the injunction.
In Aguilar’s lone season with Tennessee, the team finished 8-5 (4-4 SEC). However, the offense took a big step back in the right direction. Aguilar posted an SEC-high in passing yards at 3,565 with 24 touchdowns and 10 interceptions.

Outside of Aguilar, there are six former Tennessee players who will also be attending the combine. Cornerbacks Jermod McCoy and Colton Hood, edge rusher Joshua Josephs, wide receiver Chris Brazzell, tight end Miles Kitselman and defensive tackle Bryson Eason all earned an invite.
Notable players who were not invited include defensive ends Dominic Bailey and Tyre West, defensive tackle Jaxson Moi, running back Star Thomas and defensive backs Jalen McMurray and Andre Turrentine.
All former Vols will also have the chance to compete at the team’s Pro Day, which is set for Tuesday, March 31, in front of scouts across the NFL.
